Hail Raven! This article is on Audio Triggers. Many people think that they are some kind of bot or too difficult to use, but I’m going to make it easy for you. First, let me tell you what they are.
One thing I noticed when I was running thru WOS one day was that while I was looking at the map my invis decided to drop and I got agro from the surrounding mobs and died. Well needless to say I got upset and began to search for a way to warm me when this was happening. I discovered that I could create an audio trigger that would warn me when the text “starting to appear” goes thru the chat window. So audio triggers, trigger a .wav file when a text appears in the chat window and Sony installed it into the game so it’s no kind of cheat or secondary third party program. This is a literal EQ lifesaver, because I have an inventory slot on my bar that has an inventory slot that stores my invis pots and bam invis is refreshed instantly. After that I was sold on audio triggers.
I found them to be very useful. I made one for when mobs decide to gate. Cleric Stun spells take along time to recover and I’m too busy lookin at peeps health to be reading all the text that flow thru my windows. So, I created a audio trigger for that and a button that assists the tank that casts my stun spell. I can stun a mob really fast and have found that it works well. Another use for audio triggers in when your 2 boxing. I have audio triggers for slows, cripple and malo and the like for my shammy that I 2 box a lot so its as easy as hitting 1 on the keyboard for her and shell cast her slow on the mob she has targeted if the text “yawns” goes thru her chat I get a trigger and I know it took, if not it was resisted. On Fendi I have one for “resisted” instead cause I use various spells and only need t know when they are resisted. The “yawns” or “slows down” trigger also lets me know that someone else has slowed the mob before me and I can cancel my shammies cast. So audio triggers are very useful and have made 2 boxing much more easily for me.
Ok, so how does this all work? It’s a lot easier than you would think. First you will need to find the Big EQ button that should be on your screen somewhere. Click on it and it will expand and mouse over “Actions”, and it expands again and “audio triggers” will be second from the bottom. Click on “audio triggers”. A window will pop up for the audio triggers. Take a minute to associate yourself with all the features and junk. There isn’t that many. Sony gave us some audio files already and for some of us that’s enough, but if you’re like me and really like this feature there needs to be more. Ill go thru that later on. Now we can create a trigger. Lets make a audio trigger for invis dropping first. In the box that says “pattern” type “starting to appear” there and than select the audio file you want associated with that text. I chose Alert3 for mine and it’s the only one using that alert so I know what it is. Now click on the button that says “create” and there you go it will appear in the box below. If you don’t like the alert just select it in the box below and select a new trigger and click the button “Apply”. Well its as simple as that, so there you go.
If you want more triggers to choose from all you have to do is find .wav files you like then put them in the file “Audio Triggers/shared” folder under your Everquest files. I have a zipped file of the extras I’ve made here. Still lookin for a good Primal Scream for “goes berserk” for warriors and the like. That trigger will let me know they are dropping in Hp and I might wanna cancel my previous plan and throw a fast heal on the tank. Update!! Figured out a new use for them....Rare items your lookin for...I have so many i cant remeber them all...like PG. 59 for remove greater curse spell.I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. just reply to this post.
